Mateus rural house is located in the village of Sant Andreu de Sagàs in Catalonia.. The house itself is documented from the second half of the sixteenth century. It is a large rectangular house with a detached farmhouse and chapel, and was inhabited by the Mateus family, after whom the house is named. In the late seventeenth century, the property, of considerable size, was sold, and passed through the hands of various owners until the early twentieth century, when it was given as an inheritance to the Parish of Sant Andreu de Sagàs. In 2009, it was sold to its current owners.
Within the core of Mateus estate there are two separate houses ; the Mateus main House, with the old farmhouse currently pending rehabilitation, and Porxo de Mateus.
The house available for rent is Porxo de Mateus, an isolated house surrounded by nature, completely renovated in 2013 with modern equipment, but respectin the constructive elements of the traditional architecture of the area. The house is located on a hilltop with spectacular views, especially at sunset.
It is located in the region of Berguedà, near the village of Sagàs, about 16 km from Berga and 98 km from Barcelona.
Given that it is completely isolated in the middle of nature, at the moment access to the house is possible only with a SUV type vehicle, through a forest trail.
